The gubernatorial candidate of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has warned Anambra voters on the danger of casting their votes to All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 6 governorship election.
Addressing a rally at Atani Central School, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State in continuation of his governorship campaign, Prof. Soludo said a vote for APC amount to a vote for Herdsmen.
Soludo promised that if elected, he would commence the massive construction of Okpoko, a sprawling suburb of Ogbaru on March 17 or 18, 2022, the day he will be sworn in or a day after swearing in respectively.
He said Okpoko has a population of 1.5m residents, which is huge enough for his administration’s take-off activity in the state if elected on November 6, 2021.
The former Central Bank of NIgeria (CBN) Governor said he would provide the youths and people of Anambra State with 130, 000 jobs every year.
He also promised to empower the traders in the State with N5m each. To every market in the state, he promised to transform from importers to industrialists.
Earlier he had told the mammoth crowd that there are three reasons why they must vote for APGA in this election.
One reason, said Soludo, was to ensure continuity of performance in governance by the party, then the need for Ndigbo to have a leader who will defend their interest.
He said: “APGA belong to Igbo. If APGA does not win this election, the party will die. Ndigbo will take back seat. We cannot not tallk. We should talk, not via gun. It is through political parties”.
Soludo said he was among 12 Ndigbo including Prof. Pat. Utomi who negotiated the release of Nnamdi Kanu in his first arrest.
In his speech, the former National chairman of the party, Senator Victor Umeh, said they cannot afford to backslide now they are approaching the promise land, after weathering the storm this years.
He said among the contenders for the governorship slot, there is nobody better than Soludo, noting that he has what it takes to govern Anambra State.
Chief Umeh said Soludo has incredible academic record that cannot be matched by any other candidate in this race, experience and track record, saying that he was among the 12 wise men selected to brainstorm and proffer solutions to problem of the economy of the world during the last economic recession.
“He has humility, wisdom and he is knowledgeable. If he develops programmes for countries, is it Anambra State he cannot develop? Let’s vote Soludo. With him,it shall be well with all of us”.
The Deputy Director General of Soludo Campaign Organisation, Chinedu Obidigwe, alleged that the APC candidate has signed document with Herdsmen to give them land in Ogbaru, Anambra West, Orumba North and Awka North for the grazing of their cattle.
For Ozigbo, the people’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Obidigwe said he is inexperienced to rule Anambra State, asking the party supporters to come out in en masse, vote Soludo, stay at the polling booth until the votes have been counted.
Then, he said, they should follow the votes to the wards and Local Government Areas Headquarters.
He said those legislators who defected to APC betrayed Ndigbo, saying they preferred paying allegiance to an Alhaji than Onye Nze.
