The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for House of Representatives, Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu, has said that his quest to represent the Federal Constituency has outlined his priorities for his desire to represent the Federal Constituency.
Speaking shortly after he was issued with the party’s Certificate of Return and INEC form EC9, the former Transition chairman of Ogbaru Federal Constituency said his campaign would be issues driven .
Hon. Awogu stated this while recieving his certificate of return and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC ) Form EC9 at the headquarters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Abuja.
Accompanied by Ogbaru stakeholders residing in Abuja, Hon. Awogu said he was humbled by the overwhelming support of Ogbaru people in his quest to represent the Federal Constituency.
“I stand humbled and inspired by the events of today wherein I received alongside other candidates, my Certificate of Return from my party, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as its flag bearer for the House of Representatives, Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the 2023 general elections. I am humbled and truly humbled by the fact that the journey to putting smiles on the faces of hundreds of thousands of Ogbaru people and residents alike has started in earnest,” said Awogu.
Continuing, “I take pride in engaging in robust discussion of issues about the Ogbaru situation. I’ve in the last few months following my stepping up to the place, taken retrospective look at the Ogbaru situation and said to myself that there is no better time to bring to fruition the thoughts about fixing Ogbaru and setting her on the path of accelerated progress and development than now. Even more so, now that we have a governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo that has taken Ogbaru as his focal local government area of interest.”
He reiterated that his campaign would be issue based. Talking about road infrastructure in Ogbaru, where construction of new roads and fixing of the existing ones will be a priority through his constituency projects and other contingencies that could be accessed.
The former chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Caretaker Committee, said he would strive to bring about access to healthcare, talk and bring the erosion ravaging Ogbaru coastlal line and many other options open to both the state and federal governments to explore in saving the Ogbaru land space.
He also said he would be confronting low school enrollment that is posing a huge threat in raising a generation of literates and sound educated citizens in Ogbaru.
“I want to talk about ways of reducing and eventually ending drug related vices in Ogbaru. I want to talk about a modular refinery in Ogwu which will improve the living standards of the people as oil bearing communities. Issues of agro- based and cottage industries and other job creating establishments in Ogbaru and what we will do to our army of unemployment youths will equally engage my attention.”
Awogu said he was equally committed to job creation for the teeming youths of Ogbaru by working hard to attract projects that will create jobs in Ogbaru as well as attracting the chances of securing employment opportunities for Ogbaru people in Federal Government which should be our right.
If elected, he said, his office would simply be a rendezvous of contact-network for the upliftment of the Ogbaru people to ensure that a lot of Ogbaru people have access to Federal jobs as opportunity presents itself.
“My record in getting jobs for Ogbaru people even as a TC Chairman is one perfect testimony,” he ended.
He further said that wealth creating opportunities would be unlocked through his representation stressing “poverty in Ogbaru is one malady I want to fight by creating access (on household to household basis) to opportunities hitherto unknown to Ogbaru families. I will focus more on the family because that is the fulcrum of the society. If we get the individual families right, it will permeate the society.”
The former Senior Special Assistant to the immediate past Governor, Chief Willie Obiano on Political Matters, also assured that he would fight for every Ogbaru vote by constructively engaging the Ogbaru voter and called on believers of paradigm shift in the Federal Constituency to support and vote for him in the coming election.
