The Federal Ministry of Finance,Abuja published in the Sun newspaper of Monday Dec. 9, 2019, the distribution of revenue allocation to Local Government Council by Federation Account Committee for the month of April, 2019.
In the publication, all the local councils were listed according to their States and what they got. In Anambra State, Onitsha-North Local Government Council got a total allocation of N131,307,997.32k.
Breakdown:
Gross Statutory Allocation is N100,577,134.91k.
Deduction is 0k
Exchange Gain Difference is N154,671,44k
Value Added Tax is N30,576,190.97k
This is just for a month.
This is outside internally generated revenue
The question is, does the entire local government Area look like where such amount is disbursed to be spent in one month?
This is a question that demands critical thinking.
However, this is not peculiar to the local council in question. Go round the entire state and check if there is any trace of such expenditure in the last 12 months of such disbursement.
Go ahead and look up your state and local council and compare what is shared in the last 12 months by all the tiers of government and the level of infrastructural development.
