A former chairman of Judicial Committee of Anambra State House of Assembly and a chieftain of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Chugbo Enwezor, has said his party considered picking the best of the best as its gubernatorial candidate in the November 6 Governorship election because he understands the issues at stake.
Enwezor, who represented Onitsha II Constituency in the State House said Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who is the APGA flagbearer in the race has the credibility to sustain the success story of the party in the State.
The two time member of the State House of Assembly said APGA is fielding the former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor because he is “credible, qualitative and understands the dynamics of providing the people of Anambra State with good governance”.
He said that it is the duty of the people to continue to yearn for better and more infrastructure, which is why APGA is fielding credible, qualitative candidate that understands the issues, a candidate who has credibility, sustained credibility to ensure that the success story of the party is continued to be improved upon. So APGA is fielding the best of the best who understands not only how to sustain the good governance APGA has offered but also improve the economic standing of the state in the committee of states.
“We need to have respect not only within Anambra State but within Nigeria and the world” the legal practitioner said.
He said that Anambra State was a pacesetter and as such “pacesetter must showcase the kind of person we are presenting to the people, which is why APGA considered it Paramount to ensure that the best emerged”.
” Although the people have the right to bring to the attention of the government the areas they have failed to draw attention. If not for APGA Government, what they have today in the state would have been far worse.”
The Onitsha based legal practitioner turned politician expressed confidence that APGA as a party and its candidate must douse and assuage the anger and bad feelings of the people who felt shortchanged during the last primary.
He said the reconciliation committee which the party had already set up and headed by former national chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, must convince the people who felt offended that the interest of the party is supreme.
He said for the party to go into the election as one united family, all hands must be on deck to ensure that the party’s candidate emerges victorious.
Enwezor said he does not see any of the candidates constituting a threat to Prof. Soludo.
“It is going to be a landslide victory. It will be so because what APGA has come to represent in Anambra State. In the past 16 years or more, APGA has come to be synonymous with good governance and development in Anambra State. The party has been able to post serious performance. Our people, Anambra people and APGA are like Siamese twins”.
