APC postpone campaign activities in Anambra

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the forthcoming Anambra election, Senator Emmanuel Andy Ubah, yesterday, in a press release, called off his planned campaign flag-off ceremony billed to take place in Onitsha on Saurday, October2, 2021. Reason being the heightened insecurity presently rocking Anambra State
According to the APC flag bearer, “I have followed with much sadness and grief, the recent, unfortunate and mindless state of violence and insecurity in Anambra state. I have also watched with disdain obvious breakdown of institutional capacity and inability of the APGA led state government to address security challenges and prevent the state from further descent into anarchy and chaos.”
While the ruling party in Anambra State blames other parties for sponsoring mayhem in the state in order to desperately achieve victory at all cost, this is the first time APC in the state is making an official statement that accuse APGA of negligence and lack of capacity to protect the lives and properties of the citizenry and as well raised the hope of the people for better tomorrow.
“To Ndi Anambra who are living in fear of their lives and properties as a result of the ongoing mayhem, I bring you a message of hope; hope in God under whose divine protection as Christians we go about our daily activities; hope in our collective capacity and republican nature to resist all forms of evil, even when perpetrated under the watch of highest civil authority in our dear state.” He said.
However, as mark of honour as declared by Ubah, campaign activities geared to be launched has been postponed, “As a mark of respect and honor for all those who have lost their lives I, in consultation with the leadership of our great party and campaign council, have decided to cancel the campaign flag-off rally scheduled for Saturday, 2nd October, 2021 in Onitsha. “
While the situation is closely monitored by both the citizens of Anambra State, political stakeholders from all the divides, the religious groups and the electorates, the common denominator is to see a lasting peace return to the state so that people could go about their lawful businesses regardless of politics.
