Police kill two robbers, arrest four at Obosi Bye-Pass

*HURIDE/CD laud Anambra Command

The Human Right, Liberty Access and Defenders’Foundation (HURIDE) and the Campaign for Democracy (CD) have lauded the Anambra State Police Command for bursting the criminals who rob people at Idemili Bye- Pass, Obosi, along Onitsha- Owerri Express Way.

Following series of complaints from the public over the nefarious activities of criminals under the flyover, the Police despatched a crack team who ambushed the criminals as they came to rob motorists during the weekend.

In the ensuing attack, two of the robbers were said to have been killed, while four of them were arrested.
Police sources said two guns were recovered from them and Keke Napep which brought some of the suspects to the place was also recovered from the criminals.

HURIDE/CD in a statement made available in Awka commended the State Police Command for arresting the criminals who have been terrorising innocent motorists and passengers alike at the Obosi Bye-Pass.
In the statement endorsed by Dede Uzor A Uzor who is the Executive Director HURIDE and chairman of CD , South East respectively thanked the Commissioner of Police, ECHEEN ECHEEN, and his special forces for tackling these criminal elements who have been threatening the peace and smooth running of economic activities of the state.

“We want him to really focus more at Upper Iweka via Owerri Road to Julius Berger construction Site. These areas are criminal flash points and very notorious for criminal activities. We call on the Governor of Anambra State to put machinery in place to motivate these officers. CP should reward them with next rank as a lesson for those officers who are yet to adopt professionalism in Police duties” said the rights groups.
