Bishop Nwokolo tasks Archdeaconry on Church planting, institutes Venerable

The Anglican Bishop on the Niger, Rt. Rev. Dr. Owen Nwokolo, has tasked clerics in the Diocese on the urgent need to win souls by planting more churches.

Bishop Nwokolo who made the call at the Onitsha Central Archdeaconry told clergymen to plant more churches as they embark on purposeful soul winning into God’s kingdom.

He made the call at Basilica of St Andrew, Onitsha during the occasion of the Institution and Induction of Venerable Daniel Amarachukwu Chiazor Uche as Vicar/Archdeacon, Onitsha Central Archdeaconry.

Bishop Nwokolo said that the essence of the church is to embark on massive evangelism and preach the gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ which transforms human beings morally and spiritually.

“Let more churches be planted for the propagation of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. I gave this same task to the former Archdeacon and it gave birth to the New Jerusalem Anglican Church, Onitsha.”

In the homily, which text was taking from Ephesians 4 vs 8, Bishop Nwokolo preached on the power of ascension, saying that without the Ascension there is no benefit for Christians.

“Jesus Christ is the centre of the gospel message. He came to reconcile us to God through his teachings, death, resurrection and ascension to heaven.

“He is now interceding for us at the right hand side of the Father to ensure that Christians do not lack any good thing here on earth. Jesus is our advocate mediating between God and man,” said Nwokolo.

The new vicar, Venerable Daniel Uche thanked Bishop Nwokolo and his wife, Elsie for finding him worthy to pastor the Basilica and promised not to deviate from tthe wholesome truth of the Bible.

Many church members from the celebrant’s former church, St Faith Anglican Church, Fegge, Basilica of St Andrew, friends and well wishers came to felicitate with him during the ocassion.
Some who spoke to newsmen described Venerable Uche as a practicing Christian, humble and accessible.
