Today, August 25, 2023 is new dawn as Akokwa, a people whose illustriousness peaks to the high heaven eats new yam.
For an annual festival of culture, tradition, style and glitz that is awaited with nostalgia, the 2023 edition is a rare and unique package as Dr. (Ambassador) Obinna Okpara (Nmirioma) is the chairman.
He was appointed by the traditional ruler of the Akokwa ancient kingdom, Eze (Sir) Ikenna Okoli, KSC, (Okoli V) (Agbarakwuriibe lll ) The 11th Obi of Akokwa, as the Ozo ji 2023 (overseer of the new year festival).
His appointment was contained in a letter dated July 11, 2023.
The monarch in expressing his confidence in Amb. Obinna Okpara to deliver on the job said: “It pleases me greatly to inform you that the palace has found you worthy to be appointed the Ozo ji for the 2023 new year festival.”
Dr. Okpara, a renowned philanthropist who has impacted positively on the lives of many through scholarships, grass root development projects and other humanitarian works sits atop many companies as Chairman/Managing Director.
These include Ron Logistics and supporting services LIMITED, Zuriel Gold link pharmaceuticals limited, and Headstone Agro Allied Ltd among others.
