Anambra targets N4b revenue Monthly – Madubuko

The Anambra State Government is targeting an Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Four Billion Naira (4b) every month.

The Executive Director of the State Internal Revenue, Anambra Internal Revenue Service, Dr. Christian Madubuko, stated this on Thursday in Onitsha during his visit to markets in Onitsha to sensitive the traders on the need to pay their taxes.

Madubuko, a former Commissioner during Chief Willie Obiano’s administration said each trader was expected to pay N12, 200, comprising the entire tax a trader was suppose to pay for the year.

He said the Thursday’s visit to three markets in Onitsha, Abada International market, Ogbaru Relief Market and Onitsha Drug market, Bridgehead was to serve as sensitisation visit.

The AIRS Executive Director, Anambra North Senatorial zone warned that by next week any trader who failed to pay would face the dire consequences including payment of penalty for defaulting.

He also cautioned that there should be no payment with cash, rather they should pay through Point of Sale (POS)and banks with a special code number.

Dr. Madubuko said AIRS is the only statutory body in the state charged with responsibility of collecting revenues for the state government.
